Dr. Akhileshwar Reddy's journey into medical recruitment began not in a boardroom, but in the corridors of a medical college. After completing his MBBS and MD in Community Medicine, he joined the teaching faculty at a private medical college — a role that gave him a front-row seat to one of Indian medical education's most persistent problems.
Every inspection cycle, he watched his college scramble to fill faculty positions. The administration would make frantic calls, post on WhatsApp groups, and reach out to generic HR firms that couldn't tell the difference between an MD in Anatomy and an MD in Pathology. Qualified candidates existed — they just couldn't be found through the disorganised channels that dominated the market. Meanwhile, talented doctors who wanted to teach were stuck in the wrong institutions, unaware of openings that matched their exact qualifications.
The insight came gradually: what if a doctor — someone who understood NMC staffing norms, inspection-cycle pressure, the nuances of each department, and the academic aspirations of faculty — built a recruitment consultancy from scratch? Not a generic staffing firm, but a medical-education-native platform with real data, real relationships, and real understanding of the ecosystem.
In 2024, Dr. Reddy founded Akiva Health in Hyderabad. He built a master database of 819+ medical colleges across India, mapped 2,052 key contacts, and assembled profiles of 1,627+ faculty members. He expanded operations to Jaipur to cover northern and western India. And uniquely, he launched the International Journal of Medical Sciences and Clinical Research (IJMSCR) — offering placed doctors what no other recruitment firm could: a pathway to academic publication.
Today, Akiva Health operates as India's most comprehensive doctor-led faculty placement consultancy. It covers every state and union territory, every NMC-recognized specialty, and every position level from Junior Resident to Dean.
